How does Eyescan look for macular degeneration (MD)?

We use a digital Retinal Camera that is specially designed to take high resolution images of the macula, which is the sensitive area at the back of the eye that allows us to see fine detail. Then we use an instrument named an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomographer). Using infrared waves and laser light, the OCT is able to generate high resolution 3-dimensional images of the retinal layers, enabling detection of the earliest abnormalities such as sub-retinal fluid or new blood vessels in the retina.
